The Association for Urban Planning and Spatial Planning in Slovakia (ZUUPS) was founded in 1992. Its chairmen were such personalities as Mr. ing.arch. Arnošt Mitske, Dr. Juraj Silvan, Mr. Ing.arch. Peter Beňuška…

The association is a voluntary, independent, social organization. It is an organizational unit of the Association of Architects of Slovakia, but it acts independently and under its own name. In relation to state bodies and institutions, state administration and local self-government, it fulfils the function of a professional background capable of contributing to the objectivity of decision-making and management of territorial development. ZUUPS participates in the development of culture, science, research, education, conceptual and project activities, management and executive activities in the field of spatial planning, spatial planning, landscape creation, creation and development of human settlements, etc.

Mission & Activities

The mission of ZUUPS is:

– to influence the quality of urban concepts, which are reflected in spatial planning tools and through which conditions are created for the optimal development of settlements, for the development of the territory, harmonious arrangement of the territory, protection of cultural and natural heritage and support of ecological balance, etc.
– to influence the quality of social, economic, ecological, environmental, scientific and technical programs, landscape concepts, urban ensembles, architectural and engineering works, etc.

The current activities of the Association are focused on:
– rehabilitation and effective application of urbanism, spatial and spatial planning in the context of the overall territorial development of society,
– to influence the creation of a long-term strategy for the development of socio-economic, ecological and urban structures of Slovakia with the aim of harmonizing intentions and development programs
– in cooperation with other partners for the preparation of legislative and other instruments and measures related to the development and regulation of territories, by applying synergy experts of individual professions
– support of interdisciplinary thinking,
– cooperation in the development of new directions of urbanism, spatial and spatial planning,
– expert and consulting activities,
– association professional-social and social-support activities,
– educational, popularization and publication activities,
– cooperation with foreign organizations and experts, participation in international events and membership in international organizations,
– increasing the professional level in cooperation with scientific research and educational workplaces.
