Working Groups

Most of ECTP-CEU’s policies and organisation are drafted by Working Groups who are presenting their outcomes on a regular basis to ECTP-CEU’s Executive Committee (ExCo) and General Assembly (GA).

These Working Groups are constituted by members of the ExCo, delegates to the GA and even individual members of ECTP-CEU’s member organisations. In many cases, a Working Group’s activity concludes with a publication, product or event.

Earlier Working Groups

Among the past Working Groups the following earlier WGs have left an important mark in ECTP-CEU’s history of the last 20 years:

  • Charter of European Planning (led to the publication of the same name which since 2013 has replaced the New Charter of Athens of 1998 and 2003 has since become the ‘Constitution’ of the European planners)
  • Climate Change
  • European Charter on Participatory Democracy in Spatial Planning Processes
  • New ICT in Planning practice
  • Professional Qualification Recognition (followed by the mutual recognition procedure between Irish and French planners and whose outcomes were also an essential contribution to the 2017 Guidelines on professional competences in spatial planning; professional characterisation and recognition still constitutes one of ECTP-CEU’s core activities, and on 5th November 2023 a new phase was announced leading to the current, very active WG)
  • Vision 2020 ECTP-CEU
  • Young Planners (Working Group subsequently converted into a permanent project, the Young Planners Project with its annual Young Planners Workshop since 2012)
