Description

The Association of Croatian Urban Planners was founded in 2008 due to the need to define and protect common interests of legal persons authorized to perform professional physical planning activities as well as natural persons for whom spatial planning is the subject of action. In 2011, the Association joined ECTP-CEU (European Council of Spatial Planners), which brings together national associations and is an umbrella association spatial planners of Europe.

One of the activities of the Association is the improvement of spatial planning methodology in cooperation with the European colleagues and monitoring the spatial planning system throughout Europe. That is why we are especially proud that in 2013, at the ECTP-CEU General Assembly in Barcelona, 80 years after the creation of the Athens Charter, adopted a new charter on spatial planning called the ‘Barcelona Charter’.

Goals

  • Affirmation of urban planning activities and professions,
  • Compliance with professional standards when drafting physical planning documents,
  • Ensuring harmonized and legal treatment on the principles of reciprocity, professionalism, professional and social responsibility,
  • Respecting the ethical standards of the profession in mutual relations,
  • Monitoring cultural, scientific and technical developments, developing international cooperation and ensuring professional development,
  • Joint appearance towards state authorities and bodies of local and regional self-government units,
  • Monitoring the spatial planning system and promoting an integrated perception of space, because only through an integrated view can the guidelines and strategy of spatial development be defined and the development of individual areas harmonized in accordance with real needs.
